Yum!
Just stopped into the Mill City Café and discovered that, among other things, they have Surly Cynic on tap! To bad I had to go back to work, or I guarantee they would have sold 2 or 3 of those delicious citrus undertone having pints of heaven. Wow, is that even a sentence? Who knows.
For lunch I enjoyed a really nice riff on the cuban sandwich. Very affordable. $7.95 and it came with a green salad! I love that. Provolone cheese was melted over a concoction of ham, roasted pork, pickles, and a few jalapeños, and inserted in to a soft, but not so soft, baguette. Well done, good people in the kitchen.
I was very tempted to order the pasta special, some kind of mixed veg with truffle oil, for a whopping 6.95. I bet it was good…
Oh, and delicious coffee!
I will be back, for sure.

Yea!
I remember about a year ago or something when you posted about this place, but I used to lunch (yes, lunch is a verb… the act of taking some small about of pleasure out of an otherwise miserable 9 hour block of someone else’s time) well away from beloved NE.
I definitely get what you were on about though (and I am too lazy to look up your blog entry, this is just from my Cynic addled brain) your post was about the holy trinity of being able to enjoy: good coffee (and wifi) + good food (like, actual food, not shrink wrapped coop sandwiches for six dollars) + SURLY (and a full bar to back the Surly up) = ultimate lunch spot. And probably a solid dinner spot as well. I will look into that soon enough.
I guarantee that anyone that pays any attention to me whatsoever will hear about the place.

Oh are you kidding me? I am seriously drooling right here at my desk thinking about how awesome that sandwich would be right now. Pork, pickles and jals covered in cheese? Mmmm…

I had an awesome chicken salad sandwich on croissant there too. They added small chunks of papaya which was surprisingly tasty. Cheered me up after finding out that the Thurs. evening Mill City Farmer’s Market is pretty lame.
